The Practice

About Neuro Alchemy Lab

A clinical practice for adults shaped by more than one world. Founded in 2017. Online since 2020. Three languages. Three continents of clients.

The Practice

What we do

Neuro Alchemy Lab is a one-clinician clinical neuropsychotherapy practice. We work with adults whose lives sit across cultures, generations, and languages — people for whom the standard therapeutic frame doesn't quite hold what they are carrying. Sessions are online, in English, French, or Arabic, with clients across the European Union, the Middle East, North Africa, and the diaspora beyond.

The practice is built around the NAP-D Protocol — a four-axis clinical framework integrating neuroscience, intergenerational trauma work, present-behavioural intervention, and decolonial analysis. It was developed in practice, not imported from a textbook, and is the proprietary clinical methodology of the founder.

Shainna — Founder & Lead Practitioner

Ethno-Neuropsychotherapist

Shainna is a certified neuropsychotherapist specialising in intergenerational and transgenerational trauma, with a clinical focus on ethno-decolonial approaches to healing. She holds professional training in neuropsychotherapy and somatic-trauma modalities, and has been practising since 2017 — first in person, then online from 2020 onward.

Her clients live across three continents: the European Union (with concentrations in Brussels, Paris, and London), the Middle East and North Africa (Dubai, Cairo, Casablanca, Beirut), and the wider African diaspora. She conducts sessions in English, French, and Arabic, and clients often move between languages within a session — which she considers clinically useful, not an interruption.

Her work sits at the intersection of clinical neuroscience and postcolonial theory. She is the originator of the NAP-D Protocol and an active contributor to discourse on freedom of expression, ethno-decolonial mental health, and cultural humility in clinical practice. She is affiliated with C.Q.F.D. A.S.B.L., a Belgian non-profit working on these themes.

The Name

The name, and the work behind it

Alchemy was, at its core, the practice of transformation — of taking what was raw, opaque, or heavy and rendering it into something different. The 'lab' in Neuro Alchemy Lab is the same idea, applied to the nervous system: a structured space where what feels unworkable becomes workable. The name is a serious one. So is the work.

What We Hold True

Three things we hold to be true

01

Therapy that doesn't ask you to translate yourself.

For many of our clients, the first language of feeling and the first language of explaining are not the same. Real therapy meets you in the language your body knows — not the one you learned to perform in.

02

Frameworks that fit lived complexity.

Symptom-based models leave too much unspoken. NAP-D was built to hold what mainstream protocols often leave at the door: ancestry, displacement, cultural pressure, the politics of identity.

03

Clinical rigour, not cultural reduction.

Cultural awareness is not the same as cultural reduction. NAL is clinical first — evidence-based, structured, professional — and culturally literate as a matter of practice, not as a marketing position.

Standards & Affiliations

Affiliations and standards

Neuro Alchemy Lab is affiliated with C.Q.F.D. A.S.B.L., a Belgian non-profit focused on freedom of expression, inclusion, and decolonial knowledge transmission, co-founded by Shainna. The practice operates under the professional ethical standards of certified neuropsychotherapists, applies GDPR-compliant data handling for all clients, and works in coordination with referring psychiatrists when clinically appropriate.

A Note on Scope

NAL is not a crisis service. It does not replace psychiatric care or medication management. It is not a coaching practice, a wellness brand, or a corporate EAP — though we offer bespoke programmes for organisations on request. If you are in crisis, please contact your local emergency services. If you need ongoing psychiatric care, NAL works alongside your referring clinician.
